Marlboro Township, New Jersey
Ellen Miller, was born Ellen Cohen on July 21, 1951, in Bayonne, NJ. She married Barry Miller on April 8, 1973, with whom she shared a dedicated and loving marriage of over five decades. Ellen was an empathetic source of strength for her family, and her love for her husband, her sons Jared and David, their wives and especially her grandchildren were evident in everything she did. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, Bridge, Canasta, and Tennis, and she was passionate about working out when she was able.
A life long resident of New Jersey, Ellen was born and raised in Bayonne and has lived in Marlboro for 45 years. She was a valued member of Hadassah, and a devoted member of Temple Shalom in Aberdeen. She found great joy in participating in services and being part of her temple community. Ellen's professional life was marked by her time as a teacher in Marlboro Township, where she devoted over four decades to the education of primary school students. She specialized in teaching math to children with special needs, as well as those in gifted and talented programs. Her retirement in 2014 from the Marlboro Board of Education marked the end of a distinguished career in education.
Despite a challenging diagnosis, Ellen remained steadfast, demonstrating her strength time and again and pushing herself to be with family as much as she could. It was those interactions that gave her vitality. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving Cohen and Ethel Cohen.
Ellen's memory will live on in the hearts of her husband, Barry; her sons, Jared and David; and all those whose lives were touched by her kindness and love. We invite you to leave memories and upload photos on her memorial page, to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman, Ellen Miller.
