Carmelleta Margaret Balas Obituary (1935

Carmelleta Margaret (Linke) Balas 81 of Whiting died Saturday March 26th at the Mystic Meadows Rehab & Nursing Home, Little Egg Harbor. Born in Monroe Township, Mrs. Balas lived in Sayreville and then Forked River for 27 years before moving to the Cedar Glen Lakes community in Whiting in 2001. She was employed for 25 years as a bus driver for the Lacey Twp. Board of Education, retiring in 2000 and was active in the bus drivers union. Previously she was employed by the E.I. duPont Company, Edison. She was a graduate of Jamesburg High School, Class of 1953. Mrs. Balas was predeceased by her sister Carolyn Cronce and her brothers William, Albert and Alan Linke. Surviving are her daughters Caroline Balas of Little Egg Harbor and Diana O'Connor of Toms River, her son Vincent of West Creek, her sisters Sharon White of Barnegat and Irene Covington of Helmetta, her brothers Kenneth of Jamesburg and Ronald (Tracy) of Meredith, NH, three grandchildren Carly O'Connor, Alexander Ramirez and Alana Balas and three great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday April 5th at the Lester Memorial Home 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Jamesburg. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Monday 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
